SUGGESTED BUSINESS PLAN STRUCTURE

The project development team must submit a brief business plan, according to the following tables, in which the elements below must be analyzed.

D.1 Definition of the proposed activity
• Target of the innovation action
• Benefits to the Cyprus Economy (analysis of the expected impacts, new jobs, contribution to development)

D.2 Classification of expenses into the work packages by considering the type of research (i.e. whether the specific activity falls into the industrial research5 or into the pre-competitive development6 or into the aid covered by the de minimis7 rule or into the grant for small and medium enterprises for initial investment expenses on equipment and expenses for acquisition of know-how, as referred in table D6)

D.3 Budget of the proposed activity
• Detailed financial data for the required expenses (equipment, required consumables, personnel costs, expenses for acquisition of know-how, marketing expenses and expenses to secure the patent rights of the products.
• Financial resources

D.4 Implementation/deliverables
• Time schedule of implementation mentioning in detail the project phases and the corresponding deliverable. The total time required for the completion of the product must not exceed two (2) years from the date the company took residence in the incubator.
Required resources (mention in detail the required resources for the completion of the project, by kind and by time period during the residence of the company in the incubator).
Availability of necessary personnel. The existence of suitably trained personnel supporting the initiative must be substantiated.
• Personnel training/development program.

5 Industrial research, means the planned research of critical investigation aimed at the acquisition of new knowledge, the objective being that such knowledge may be useful in developing new products, processes or services or in bringing about a significant improvement in existing products, processes or services.

6 Pre-competitive development, means the activity for the shaping of the results of industrial research into a plan, arrangement of design for new, altered or improved products, processes or services, whether they are intended to be sold or used, including the creation of an initial prototype which could not be used commercially. This may also include the conceptual formulation and design of other products, processes or services and initial demonstration projects or pilot projects, provided that such projects cannot be converted or used for industrial applications or commercial exploitation. It does not include the routine or periodic changes made to products, production lines, manufacturing processes, existing services and other operations in progress, even if such changes may represent improvements.
